What is the microbiome and why does it matter?
The skin is our body's first line of defense, with a thin layer acting as an interface between our inside world with the outside world. What we often do not realize is that our skin is naturally covered with oils, waxes, and microbes—this microbial community is collectively called the microbiome, and is composed of bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
The skin hosts a diverse community of microorganisms that begin populating our bodies, inside and out, soon after we are born. These organisms communicate back and forth with our brain to train and support our immune system and protect against pathogenic threats—anything from exposure to common skin conditions, to diseases, and even illnesses. This is why Blü Fern products are all formulated to help support a healthy microbiome balance.
Microbiome Support with Blu Fern
Our main goal when formulating our products is to do no harm to our skin or the environment while always supporting the goodness that nature has given us. The skin’s microbiome inhabitants produce enzymes, antimicrobial agents, and protective substances that we do not want to disrupt, so our approach is to establish an environment where natural microbial inhabitants can thrive while being permitted to perform their designed purpose and work in partnership with our bodies.
Our unique fermentation process or plant oils enhances free fatty acid values which is an essential part of the skin. These enhanced oils mimic natural skin components creating an environment for beneficial bacteria and the skin's natural organisms to propagate.
The benefits of fermented oils are:
-absorbed quickly into the skin
-keeps skin well hydrated
-conditions the skin, keeping it soft, smooth and radiant
